David Nelson Joins UCC Insurance Board

(Indianapolis, Indiana) David Nelson has been named Vice President – Insurance Operations of the United Church of Christ Insurance Board, effective January 2, 2007.

His responsibilities will include managing the processes by which the UCC Insurance Board delivers services to its member churches, as well as working with key business partners in the design of the master insurance program.

"David brings a wealth of history and experience to our organizations," Cathy Green told UCIC and UCCIB board members at their just completed January meeting in Indianapolis. "He was the senior account manager on the Willis brokerage team for the UCCIB from1999 to 2005. During that time, he worked with staff and board to obtain program coverages and to ensure that our churches were serviced appropriately."

While at Willis, Nelson was responsible for managing major clients, including the UCCIB. The new vice president is a University of Michigan graduate (B.A.) and has taken MBA courses at Cleveland State University. He is a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and is certified as an Associate in Risk Management (ARM).

"David brings to the UCCIB a strong background in the insurance industry and experience in effectively servicing clients," said Green.

Nelson and his wife, Joan, are parents of two grown children and live in Westlake, Ohio, where David is active in community theater groups.

United Church of Christ Insurance Board, established in 1981 in California, has been located in Maryland for the past 14 years. The UCCIB, a not-for-profit corporation, administers property and liability insurance programs for churches and related entities of the United Church of Christ and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
